There's something about these rustic cones that make a tree feel so much fuller. But that doesn't mean you can't put your own personal touch on 'em to fit your holiday decor. Try one of these DIYs that are sparkly, colorful, and wonderfully simple.
1 GOLD-BRUSHED ACCENT
If you want just a touch of gold to glam up your tree this year, use a foam brush to add the metallic paint, working from the widest part of the pinecone down to the thinnest.
2 ALL ABOUT THE BOW
Since the holidays are the busiest time of year, who doesn't like the sound of a 30 second craft? Just hot glue a twine loop on the top of the pinecone and wrap a big satin bow where the twine meets the base.
3 SPOTS OF GLAMOUR
Gold leaf stands out so much more on a white background, which is why this blogger dipped her pinecones in white paint, let them dry, then added just a few spots of gold for sparkle. A blue ribbon gives adds a playful spin.
4 JINGLE ALL THE WAY
You know what's better than one pinecone? A cluster of three with a bell on top. This blogger screwed little hooks into the base of each pine cone to make it easier to tie all the elements together with twine.
5 LOVE BIRDS
If you want to pump up the cute factor on your tree, all you need are felt wings, a wooden head, and a pinecone body to make a bird that peeks out amongst your pine branches.
6 A LIGHT DUSTING
This blogger used Modge Podge and German Glass Glitter to make her pinecone look like it just came inside from a snowy day.
7 BLEACHED PINECONES
Ready for a science experiment? This blogger bleached her pinecones to turn them from a dark, deep brown to a soft taupe and white. The process could take over a week so plan accordingly.
8 TONS OF COLOR
If your tree decor is vibrant, look no further: This ombre effect is achieved by painting the bottom two or three layers your darkest shade, then repeating this step with lighter shades as you gradually approach the top of the cone.
9 ALL THAT SPARKLES
This blogger wanted to give her pinecones an elegance tone, which is why she applied the glue heavier on top, so when sprinkled with glitter it looks like a snow-dusted it.
10 TONS OF CHARM
Did you know in Italy it's very popular to decorate Christmas trees with gold and red ribbon bows? This blogger added in small pinecones to make this tradition even better.
