Sofie Refer was born in Denmark, 1974. In 2003 she graduated from The Danish Design School, department of Product Design. Sofie Refer is partner and Creative Director of Refer + Staer Aps, a Danish design lighting company offering exclusive design lighting. Her designs are based on Scandinavian simplicity combined with an extravagant look. Throughout her professional life she has focused on working with lighting design as she is fascinated by light in all aspect, convinced that lighting is the most important and powerful aspect in all environments. She creates lighting design with the deepest respect and passion for light. In that process she constantly seeks for new ways to play with and express light, also by using new technology components and light sources.

The designer used the idea and the classic shape to create a modern accessory. It’s a very simple lamp but it’s the minimalism that makes it so special. The name is suggestive in this case and it expresses the main characteristics that define the lamp: its size and shape. The Mega Bulb pendantlamp was the winner of numerous awards such as the Good Design award and the Wallpaper Design award.

The Mega Bulb is a handcrafted lamp with a design reminiscent of the Scandinavian classicism and a minimalist design. It has a timeless look and a versatile shape that makes it wonderful for spaces such as the dining room, the living room, the office, the kitchen, the hallway etc. It can be used as a single piece or in sets of two and three. The Mega Bulb pendant lamp is the perfect combination of minimalist, classicism, functionality and style. Because of its size it would be suitable for large spaces.
